History and activity of National Choreographic Union of Ukraine

Choreographic Union of Ukraine was founded in February 2002.

There are about 20 thousand professional and amateur choreographic ensembles of different departments (trade-union, army, police system), different skill level and different creative direction in Ukraine. Over than 130 thousand participants are included in these ensembles.

The representatives of dance collectives of all systems and departments, choreographic teachers and honored art figures take part in the activity of Choreographic Union of Ukraine.

On December 13th, 2004 All-Ukrainian Choreographic Union has got a National status by the decision of Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers.

Presently the cells of Union work in 27 regions of Ukraine.

During its existence the Union laid down beginning of the international, All-Ukrainian and regional festivals. Such as International dance festival of world nations "Rainbow Terpsihora", International festival "Folk dyvosvit", All-Ukrainian festival-competition "New choreographic stagings", and All-Ukrainian festival-competition of folk choreography, named after Pavlo Virsky, which became a considerable event in the Ukrainian cultural life.
